Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada

Thunder Bay is located on the northwest shore of beautiful Lake Superior and is the geographic center of Canada. With a population of just over 110,000 Thunder Bay is Canada's 10th largest city.

In the summer, you'll enjoy the taking in the scenery and fresh air in the city and surrounding area. Hiking, sailing, fishing and camping are just the start of a long list of summertime fun to be had in the wilderness playground that begins in the city's 4000 acres of parkland and extends to the forests and lakes of the area. Cottages line the shores of the region's many lakes, offering relaxing days of swimming, water skiing, tubing and family fun.

Designated as The Cultural Capital of Canada in 2003, City attractions include Fort William Historical Park, the Centennial Conservatory, Chippewa Zoo, and a 1,500 seat state-of-the-art Community Auditorium, home to the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and host to a diverse range of theatrical, dance and musical events.

In the downtown core, you'll find Magnus Theatre and from there it's just a short walk down through the shopping district on Red River Road to Marina Park at the waterfront. Take in the annual Thunder Bay Blues Festival, Summer in the Parks Concert Series and much, much more. Looking out from the harbour is the famous Sleeping Giant - a mountain formation with deep roots in history and legend.

Winter activities include outdoor activities include ice fishing, dog-sledding, snowshoeing, ice-climbing and exploring over 4000km of groomed snowmobile trails. Just a short drive from town, you'll find three alpine ski hills and our world class nordic ski centre. Thunder Bay is also home to several professional class hockey rinks and curling arenas.

Just a 45 minute drive from the Pigeon River U.S. Border crossing, many residents enjoy shoppping and entertainment in the Minnesota cities of Duluth and Minneapolis/Saint Paul.

The Thunder Bay International Airport offers connecting flights to most major North American Cities and the Trans-Canada Highway 11/17 connects Thunder Bay to Eastern and Western Canada.
